Cinnamon Squares (TWD)

DSC_1360

Looking through Dorie’s cookbook, I thought these Cinnamon Squares looked quite tasty.  It’s rare to see cinnamon get the spotlight in dessert, because usually it is paired with other spices like nutmeg, ginger, or cloves.  In this dessert, cinnamon stands out as the dominant flavor.  While the cinnamon flavor was dominat, it was still quite tasty.  I’ve found taht I like these types of spices paired with chocolate, such as with the Fresh Ginger and Chocolate Gingerbread and the Chocolate Gingerbread Cake.  It’s not a common pairing, but it’s one that stands out when it is served.

The hardest part of this recipe was getting the pretty swirl.  Mine didn’t come out as pretty as Dorie’s from the book, but you can still see it there.  This was an easy but delicious dessert to make.  The way it smelled during baking reminded me of Christmas, so I’ll have to keep this dessert in mind this winter!  You can visit Tracey’s blog for the recipe, and the TWD blog to see how everyone else’s Cinnamon Squares turned out.

Obviously I don’t pay attention to titles, because it clearly states *Cinnamon Squares*. I guess I was still thinking about the pb ice cream you made!
